چکیده

Abstract Pollinators are threatened worldwide and strategies measures to support their conservation proliferating. Among them, the approach “Farming with Alternative Pollinators” (FAP) aims pollinators by seeding strips of pollinator-attracting cultivated plants surrounding crops, simultaneously providing income farmer. In this study we assessed whether supports pollinator diversity in agro-ecosystems increases flower visitor abundance faba bean fields north-west Morocco. We tested impact FAP using a variety marketable habitat enhancement (MHEP): flax, coriander, arugula, chia canola. A total 62 species were recorded, among which almost half them new records for region. Most wild recorded digger bees (genus Anthophora ) long-horn Eucera ). MHEP shared diverse visitors hosted groups that did not meet food requirements from main crop. The highly increased whole fields, however it generate significant spillover towards Implications insect conservation: our results show is an effective mitigate decline agro-ecosystems.

The onset of faba bean farming in the Southern Levant

Even though the faba bean (Vicia faba L.) is among the most ubiquitously cultivated crops, very little is known about its origins. Here, we report discoveries of charred faba beans from three adjacent Neolithic sites in the lower Galilee region, in the southern Levant, that offer new insights into the early history of this species. Biometric measurements, radiocarbon dating and stable carbon is...

Diversity and abundance of insect pollinators on Allium cepa L

Field experiment was conducted at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar during 2009-10 to investigate the diversity and abundance of insect pollinators on Allium cepa L. and correlate their incidence in relation to the abiotic environmental factors. Hymenopterans were found to be the most abundant (60%) followed by Lepidoptera, Diptera and Coleoptera. Variation in abundance was recorded ov...

Diversity in root growth responses to moisture deficit in young faba bean (Vicia faba L.) plants

Background Soil moisture deficiency causes yield reduction and instability in faba bean (Vicia faba L.) production. The extent of sensitivity to drought stress varies across accessions originating from diverse moisture regimes of the world. Hence, we conducted successive greenhouse experiments in pots and rhizotrons to explore diversity in root responses to soil water deficit. Methods A set o...

Genetic diversity of Palestine landraces of faba bean (Vicia faba) based on RAPD markers.

Until now, neither phenotypic nor molecular approaches have been used to characterize the landraces of Palestine faba beans (Vicia faba). We used PCR-based RAPD markers to determine the genetic diversity and relatedness among 26 Palestinian faba bean landraces (traditional farmers' varieties) from 8 localities in the West Bank, Palestine. In tests with 37 primers, 14 generated no polymorphic ba...

Advances in Faba Bean Genetics and Genomics

Vicia faba L, is a globally important grain legume whose main centers of diversity are the Fertile Crescent and Mediterranean basin. Because of its small number (six) of exceptionally large and easily observed chromosomes it became a model species for plant cytogenetics the 70s and 80s. It is somewhat ironic therefore, that the emergence of more genomically tractable model plant species such as...
